OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 April 2009 was announced, that KazMunayGas National Company attended Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility in Shieli (Kzyl-Orda oblast), where the issues of increasing the Kazakhstan content were discussed as well.

The share of Kazakhstan goods and services in KMG’s total purchases for the first quarter of 2009 reached 90,2 bn tenge or 98 percent of the total (91,4 bn tenge). Services totaled 86,8 bn tenge with Kazakhstan percentage accounting to 98,8 percent (85,8 bn tenge). Equipment purchases were 4,5 bn tenge with the percentage of Kazakhstan-made equipment of 96,4 % (4,3 bn tenge).

In 2009, up to the date, KMG signed memoranda with Kazakhstan companies for the total of 27 bn tenge and concluded contracts totaling 9,4 bn tenge as a measure to support local manufacturers.

Mr. Kairgeldy Kabyldin, President of KazMunayGas said: “In 2009, we are planning to raise the share of pipe products in our purchases to 50 percent from 10 percent in 2008, chemicals from 35 to 65 percent, instrumentation from 50 to 65 percent. And electrical motors, pumping units, electrical transformers, cables and many other kinds of equipment and materials will be purchased only from Kazakhstan companies.”

Kazakhstan machine-building plants started to produce many items of machinery and equipment under KMG’s special program for production of new types of equipment for the oil and gas industry. For instance, due to partnership with KMG, Kazakhstan companies will launch production of chemicals in Atyrau, expand production of seamless steel pipes in Pavlodar and so on,” – Mr. Kabyldin said.

Kazakhstan companies that have partnership with KazMunayGas include Almaty Heavy Machine Buidling Plant, Petropavlovsk Heavy Machine Buidling Plant, Caspian Machine-Building Complex LLP, Ust-Kamenogorsk Fittings Plant, West Kazakhstan Machine-Building Company, Munaimash JSC and other manufacturing companies.
