OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2009. The Management of DTEK approved an updated business plan of Pavlogradugol for 2009. The planned coal production of the Company for 2009 increased from 13.5 to 14.65 million tons (up by 8.5%).

The decision was announced at a meeting between the Chief Executive Officer of DTEK, Maxim Timchenko, and the managers of the mining company, its subsidiaries and structural subdivisions, as well as representatives of Dnepropetrovsk territorial organization of the Trade Union of Coal Industry Workers and the Regional Association of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine in Western Donbass. At the meeting Pavlogradugol’s performance in the first quarter of 2009 was considered and the updated production plan of the Company for the current year was presented.

‘At the end of 2008 we were preparing the business plan of Pavlogradugol Company for the current year taking into account risks associated with the global financial crisis. An abrupt drop in demand for coking and steam coals on the part of domestic enterprises, as well as a decrease in collections from consumers, devaluation of Ukrainian hryvnia and many other factors dictated the need for a temporary reduction in the coal output. Yet, due to the correct strategy DTEK has managed to keep the positions of all its enterprises stable. The Company continues to strengthen its leadership in the fuel and energy sector of Ukraine. In view of that the planned indicators of Pavlogradugol for the current year were subject to an upward adjustment. As a result, some categories of the Company’s employees will be able to return to a full-time working week’, commented the decision Maxim Timchenko, the Chief Executive Officer of DTEK.
