OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 May 2009 was announced, that at “Lenexpo” Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov held a meeting, devoted to the preparation for the World Grain Forum. Mr. Zubkov emphasized that World Grain Forum, held on June 6-7, 2009 in St. Petersburg, would become the first event of its kind not only in Russian but in the whole world. “We believe that forum will start some productive and positive discussion, focused on crises implementations, grain market stabilization and other actual questions, e.g. about an international reserve grain fund which will help to deal with severe situations with food supply for some world regions.

It is important to achieve stability for grain prices. We know that some countries are facing lack of grain therefore some have it enough and to spare. That is why the question of grain trade is very important. We are interested to hear possible solutions offered by other countries.

We are also planning to make a proclamation which will reflect the positions of all participants, involved into the discussion; and it will help to evaluate the situation in the grain market and its perspectives.” – said Viktor Zubkov at the meeting with journalists in “Lenexpo”.
