OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2009. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in Russia and the CIS, has initiated deployment of MiriATE system to automatically test and control set-top boxes used by STREAM IPTV (interactive digital TV) subscribers.

The system is designed to achieve comprehensive high-quality set-top box testing that is aimed to verify reliability of set-top boxes and monitor launch of new IPTV services for STREAM and MGTS TV subscribers in Moscow. MiriATE enables automated testing of a large number of STBs through suites of various tests, including realistic endurance testing. The solution offers advanced features such as video analysis, motion detection, region comparison, optical character recognition (OCR), etc.

Victor Belov, Director for Service Platform and Network Development at COMSTAR-UTS, says, “This system will enable us to monitor condition of subscribers’ set-top boxes so that we will be able to upgrade software and detect service failures. MiriATE combined with MiriMON system which COMSTAR-UTS deployed in 2008 to provide a real-time monitoring of service delivery and customer experience, will provide the operator with a powerful Customer Experience Management (CEM) system throughout the whole service lifecycle.”

Niall Buckingham, Director at Mirifice, says, “We are delighted that COMSTAR-UTS has chosen MiriATE, the system that enables automatic extensive tests to be run 24 hours a day, thus improving reliability and quality of service.”
