OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2009. OAO Izhorskie Zavody, a part of OMZ Group, had completed production and started the difficult delivery process of the second 3R-2002 vacuum gas oil hydrotreater for the modernized oil refinery in Kstovo (Nizhegorodsky region). The equipment was commissioned by OOO LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez.

Contract for the delivery of two 1st and 2nd stage hydrotreaters for OOO LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez was signed in 2007.

In September 2009 the first of two reactors was shipped to the customer and is currently being assembled at the Kstovo oil refinery construction site.

The second stage vacuum gas oil hydrotreater will function within a single technological framework with the first hydrotreater. It will allow to produce high-quality diesel fuel conforming to Euro-5 standards. Design of the second stage hydrotreater is similar to that of the first one. Likewise, it is a 30-meter long vessel with outer diameter of over 6 m, weighing approximately 800 tons. According to the agreement with the customer and licenser (AXENS, France) reactor casings are manufactured not from forged shells but from over 200-mm thick flat steel. Metal billets for the sheets were manufactured from 15H2MFA-A CrMoV (chrome-molybdenum-vanadium) steel by OMZ-Spetsstal, also a part of OMZ Group. This grade of steel, combined with the hydrotreaters’ dimensions, required using special proprietary welding and thermal processing technologies developed by Izhorskie Zavody.

The delivery will take course over several days. It comprises a number of important stages, including crossing the Oktyabrskaya Railways tracks and re-loading to a ferry on Izhora river. The last stage will involve waterway shipment to the customer.

Development and manufacturing of a wide range of tailor-made pressure tanks for the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical industries is one of the key business areas for OMZ Group.

The largest customers of OMZ Group oil and gas products include OAO Gazprom, OAO NK Rosneft, OAO NK Lukoil, OAO Surgutneftegas, OAO TNK-BP, OAO Taneko, etc. Currently the group manufactures hydro cracker reactors for the new OAO TANEKO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, and diesel fuel hydrotreaters for OAO NAFTAN in Novopolotsk, Belarus.
