OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2009. The Gazprom Headquarters hosted today a meeting moderated by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee, and dedicated to natural gas investment projects execution in Eastern Russia.

Participating in the meeting were Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Oleg Aksyutin, Member of the Company’s Management Committee – Head of the Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department, heads and experts from Gazprom’s specialized subdivisions.

The meeting participants discussed the progress in implementing the state-run Eastern Gas Program, with an emphasis placed on the top-priority task of developing the gas supply to and gasification of Eastern Russia’s consumers. It was noted that timely execution of the Program would create the necessary environment for economic growth and improvement of living standards in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.

In addition, the meeting addressed the arrangement of gas exports to the Asia-Pacific market.

Based on the meeting results the relevant tasks were given.

Background

The state-run Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia-Pacific countries (Eastern Gas Program) was adopted in September 2007 pursuant to the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry Order. Gazprom was appointed by the Russian Federation Government as the Program execution coordinator.
