OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2009. The EBRD announced a contest to select the consultant to realize the project-technical investigation of implementation of the investment program of the Apa-Canal JSC. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development informed that elaboration of the project-technical investigations would be funded by means of financing instruments within the framework of the EU – Neighbourhood Investment Facility. The maximum budget of the project-technical investigations totals 3 million euros.

The budget will be made up by the credit and perhaps grant. The elaboration of the investigations is planned to be started in April 2010 and last for 20 months. A company or a group of companies with the experience and knowledge in the field of water supply at least 15 years, with the experience of implementation of such project-technical investigations in the region and cooperation with the international financial organizations is to be a consultant.

The letters of intentions are to be submitted by January 17, 2010. Apa-Canal Chisinau JSC is the only operator supplying water to the Chisinau municipality. It supplies 93 percent of the municipality’s population with drinking water. In 1997, the EBRD allocated a US22.8 million credit to the Apa-Canal Chisinau. Funding finished in 2004 and the credit is being repaid now.
