OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2010. Power Machines successfully completed acceptance tests of hydrogen-and-water cooled turbogenerator to be installed at Kalininskaya NPP’s fourth power unit.

The acceptance tests of the 1,000 MW turbogenerator were supervised by representatives of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC (Kalininskaya NPP) and the main contractor, Atomenergoproekt engineering company based in Nizhniy Novgorod. Equipment successfully passed test procedures and was accepted by the customer.

The contract for manufacture and procurement of power equipment for the 1,000 MW fourth power unit of Kalininskaya NPP’s was signed in 2007. Scope of Power Machines’ work under the contract includes manufacture and supply of the steam turbine rated at 1,000 MW, the hydrogen-and-water cooled turbogenerator completed with excitation system and exciter, a condenser, two sets of driven turbines and other thermal and mechanical equipment for a turbine hall.

So far, steam turbine low pressure cylinder No. 1 (LPC-1) assemblies manufactured by Power Machines were dispatched to the turbine hall of the main building of Kalininskaya NPP’s fourth power unit. Energy specialists of Volgodonsk Department for Assembly Management set fittings of the turbine LPC-1 frames into their design position and prepared them for special concrete casting, and also proceeded to work operations on depreservation of the LPC-1 and its preparation for the assembly.

The steam turbine comprises four low pressure cylinders and a high pressure cylinder. Earlier, in November 2009, Power Machines supplied a condenser to the site of the power unit No. 4 two months in advance of the preset schedule.
