OREANDA-NEWS. April 01, 2010. Moldova's largest bilateral creditors are Russia and the USA. Thus, the share of Russia is 47,4% of the total debt to bilateral creditors and USA - 21%, respectively. The debt of Moldova to Russia for loans previously obtained under governmental guarantees, as of late 2009 totalled USD 121.3 million, decreasing since the beginning of 2009 by USD  12.21 million, or 9.1%.

The debt to USA amounted to USD  53.82 million, declining by USD  2.59 million or 4,6%. The debt of Moldova to Russia consists of loans provided to the Government of the Republic in 1992-1993 for payment for energy resources. The part of the debt amounting to USD  43.4 million was restructured in accordance with the arrangements reached by Moldova and Russia within the Paris Creditors Club in May 2006.
