OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2010. More than 338,000 square metres of housing were developed in Moscow in the first quarter of 2010, including 47,000 square metres of welfare homes.

According to Marina Ogloblina, head of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow, city authorities plan to have 3 million square metres of new housing built in the Russian capital this year.

The official said that the total amount of funds allocated to develop residential buildings was expected to be 45 billion roubles (USD 1.6 bn).

“Besides, kindergartens keep being built in Moscow. 5 preschools for 690 children were commissioned in the first quarter of 2010. It is planned to have 33 kindergartens for 5,760 children, 9 comprehensive schools for 4,875 students and a 550-capacity college opened in Moscow this year,” Ms Ogloblina added.
