OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2010. On 9 June Kiev hosted a regular general meeting of members of the UN Global Compact (GC) Network in Ukraine.  The meeting traditionally discussed development of the network and ways to implement GC principles in Ukrainian businesses. SCM was one of the meeting participants.

The meeting consisted of two sections. The first one was private for the UNGC members only. SCM's Director of International and Investor Relations Jock Mendoza-Wilson, who also is the Chair of UNGC Network in Ukraine, made an opening address at the first section: "Global Compact has made a good start in Ukraine. This fact is recognized by UN Representative Offices around the world. It looks encouraging that the network kept on growing despite economic difficulties over the past two years. It means that Ukrainian business realizes that the Global Compact helps manage risks and contributes to business sustainability."

During the first section the Dean of Kyiv-Mohyla Business School Aleksandr Savruk made a speech saying about the corporate social responsibility of Ukraine’s leading businesses. Manager of UN Public Private Partnerships in Ukraine Yulia Shcherbinina told about the progress and development prospects of UNGC Network in our country.

The second section that started just after the first one was for wider audience.  The speech of Marina Saprykina, the Head of the Centre for CSR Development, and presentation of Vladimir Vorobey, Partner of Community CSR Ukraine, were action-oriented and helpful for both UNGC members and businesses planning to join the network. For example, Marina Saprykina told about similarities of ISO 26000 and Global Compact, and Vladimir Vorobey presented a practical guide "Non-financial reporting": a tool of the socially responsible business."
