OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2010. The first cars with a dual fuel system (petrol+gas) came off the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant conveyor belt.

The decision to begin production of cars with dual fuel engines (petrol+gas) was taken at the beginning of 2009 when demonstration models were built. Conversion kits will be installed in three models: UAZ Patriot, UAZ Cargo and UAZ 390945 (farmer). All models with conversion kits successfully underwent evaluation and certification testing.

The UAZ dual fuel models are installed with specially developed engines from the Zavolzhsky Motorny Zavod ZMZ-4091, volume 2.7 litres. The conversion kit is supplied by a leading Italian producer with a wide service network in Russia. On factory SUV's with conversion kits all guarantees concerning the car and engine are preserved. The cost of this option is 30 thousand roubles.

Use of the conversion kit not only prolongs the engines resources, but also reduces fuel costs. The consumption of gas fuel for 100 km is 16 litres (for petrol - 14 litres). Due to the significant price difference between gas and petrol, using a dual fuel car makes it possible to reduce costs by more than half. For example, if petrol costs about 1.7 roubles for 1 km, then gas costs 1 rouble. According to experts, the cost of a dual fuel system will be, on average, recouped within one year.

Mass production of cars with conversion kits is beginning in June 2010. Dealerships are already taking orders.
