OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2010. Compared to the same period last year, it grew by USD 56.94 million (5.9%). Particularly, about USD 870.73 million (85.8% of the total amount of money orders for 10 months of 2010) were received through different quick money transfer systems, it was informed at the National Bank of Moldova.

Money transfers to Moldova in October of this year totaled USD 118.45 million, exceeding the indicator of October 2009 by 6.3%. Particularly, the amount of remittances to Moldova in January 2010 totaled USD 63.21 million, in February - USD 72.45 million, in March - USD 97.65 million, in April - USD 95.2 million, in May - USD 96.4 million, in June - USD 110.24 million, in July - USD 120.3 million, in August - USD 107.6 million, in September – USD 132.91 million. 52.7% of the currency transfers in October of this year fell to the share of USD, 36.8% - euros, 10.5% - Russian rubles.

As it was reported earlier, the amount of money transfers to Moldovan from individuals from abroad through commercial banks in 2009 totaled USD 1,182.02 million, down USD 478.07 million (28.8%) against 2008. According to the National Bank, Moldovan labor migrants’ remittances make up about 25-30% of the country’s GDP.
