OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2010. Fast-speed steam turbines and generators of 1,200 MW capacity for NPPs are recent developments of Power Machines designed for nuclear power units of the new generation with enhanced reliability and safety and constructed in the Russian Federation within the framework of the NPP-2006 project.

When designing and constructing the К-1200–6.8/50 fast-speed steam turbines Power Machines applied new construction solution and technologies on the basis of the experience of design and production of turbines for Kudankulam NPP in India and operation of turbines at Tianwan NPP in China.

The Т3V-1200–2 turbine generators that have been designed and are being constructed now by Power Machines for NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2, are the result of development of a series of fully water-cooled turbine generators – high-performance explosion- and flame-proof turbine generators for nuclear power plants, unparalleled in the world nuclear machine building.

Contracts for supply of a set of the basic equipment for turbine islands of constructed Novovoronezh NPP-2 (NVNPP-2) and Leningrad NPP-2 (LNPP-2) were signed between Power Machines and Atomenergoprom OJSC in May of 2008. The total cost of the contracts is over 40 bln rubles. Two power units with VVER type reactors (1,200 MW) will be built at each power plant.

Under the terms of the contracts, at the first stage Power Machines shall design, produce and supply two sets of steam turbines, condensers and separate units of auxiliary equipment for turbine plant systems as well as to sets of turbine generators with auxiliary systems equipment, excitation system and exciter for the first two power units of NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2. Power Machines as a complete supplier of the turbine plant equipment will also supply heat-exchange and pumping equipment, piping and the necessary fittings. Besides, St. Petersburg power engineering company will supervise installation and commissioning of all the equipment supplied to the NPPs sites.

At the second stage Power Machines will supply similar equipment and provide similar services to the second power units of NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2.

NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 are the first nuclear power plants which will be constructed in Russia “from the ground up” for the last 15 years.
