OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2011. Kulevi Black Sea Terminal, managed by SOCAR in Georgia, employs the best environmental protection practices ever implemented in petroleum industry. The shoreline protection is one of the Terminal’s most important lines of activity in this sphere. This includes Rioni r. bank protection along the railway lines and protection of coastal line of the Kulevi port.

In this regard, the Terminal uses tetrapods – concrete structures intended to reinforce port hydro technical structures against storm-driven waves. 500 tetrapods have already been installed at the Terminal. It is to mention that tetrapods were prepared at Terminal’s concrete-mixing plant. Basalt boulders are used to protect Rioni r. bank along the railway line.
