OREANDA-NEWS. February 15, 2011. Kharkiv International Airport opens its first terminal which is capable of handling 1,300 passengers per hour. CROC designed and implemented 19 of the terminal’s engineering and IT systems.

The average distance from Kharkiv to UEFA member countries is 1,300 km (800 miles); therefore the majority of players, coaches, team members, and guests involved in the EURO 2012 championship will arrive by plane. It is estimated that the new terminal will receive an average of 800,000 passengers each year and up to 1.5 million passengers during the European Football Championship alone.

“This high-profile event compels us to ensure that we provide and organize a high-quality reception for guests and participants. To date, Kharkivis the Ukrainian city most prepared to host the European Football Championship, with both the city’s stadium and airport having already been constructed in line with UEFA requirements. By 2012, two more terminals will have been opened in the airport, increasing passenger traffic capacity to 2,500 per hour and giving the city a modern airport that complies with the highest quality standards,” said Vladimir Vasilchenko, Director General of Kharkiv International Airport.

“A modern airport such as Kharkiv International Airport is extremely high-tech, with information and telecom technology being a cornerstone of its operations. We were committed to creating a technology infrastructure that would ensure security and comfort for passengers and guests and I believe that passengers will like it,” said Mikhail Zakhartsev, Key Accounts Director, CROC.

The new infrastructure includes engineering and technical solutions, an information-communications system, and an integrated security system. In addition, the new terminal also has a video surveillance system, a data center, a telecom network, and much more.
