OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2011. The share of loss-making companies in Belarus decreased to 4.9% of the total number as of January 1, 2011 from 6.2% as of January 1, 2010, an official with the National Statistics Committee stated.

Net loss fell 20.9% to 1.042 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br).

The average return on sales in January-December 2010 was at 10.1%, up from 9.9% in January-December 2009.

In the manufacturing sector, the share of loss-makers was at 9.5% as of January 1, 2011, down 4 percentage points from the previous year. The average profitability of industrial enterprises amounted to 8.9% in 2010, unchanged.

The share of loss-makers in the construction sector reached 4.4% in January-December 2010, whereas in 2009, the share was at 4.5%. Profitability rate was at 8%, down from 9.6%.

In agriculture, the share of loss-making enterprises was at 1.2% as of January 1, 2011, down from 1.9%. Return on sales remained unchanged at 5.3%.

The share of loss-makers in the transport sector, including pipeline transport, stood at 2.9% as of January 1, 2011, down from 4.8% on January 1, 2010. The profitability of transport services decreased to 20.9% from 21.9%.
