OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2011. The first in a series of coordination meetings took place at Vnukovo International, concerning the renovation of the runway intersection at the Airport.

The meeting was attended by Head of the RosAviation, Alexander Neradko, his Deputy, Constantin Makhov, First Deputy Director General of JSC Vnukovo Airport, Vitaly Vantsev, and acting Director General of the Federal Public Unitary Enterprise Civil Airport (Airfield) Administration, Valery Saleiev.

It was noted at the meeting that the renovation work due to start on April 15, will be carried out in a 24/7 mode. RWY1 will be closed and out of commission for the project's duration, whereas all the flight operations (taxiing, takeoffs and landings) will be conducted using the available 2030 meter-long operational section of the temporarily curtailed RWY2. As per the RF Minister of Transport, Igor Levitin's express instructions, the runway intersection renovation project is to be completed within 72 days of commencement. Those present at the meeting further confirmed the project deadline as being July 1, by which time the renovated runway intersection is expected to be re-commissioned, and any and all operational restrictions on the use of RWY2 lifted.

Similar coordination meetings will be held weekly for the duration of the project.
