OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. Belarusian potash producer Belaruskali has seen its transshipments via the seaport of Klaipeda go up 38% on the year in January-April 2011 to 1.93 million tonnes, a source in the administration of the company stated.

Klaipeda appears to be the most profitable direction for Belarusian exports of potash owing to the flexible tariff policy of ports and the Lithuanian railway.

In 2011, Belaruskali and the seaport work under a long-term contract that pegs the volume of potash supplies to railway tariffs.

Belaruskali exported 2.734 million tonnes of potash fertilizers in January-April 2011, up fro 2.2 million tonnes in the first four months of 2010.

Belaruskali is one of the largest potash makers in the world, employing about 20,000 personnel. The company plans to increase its output to 9.65 million tonnes annually by 2015.
