OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2011. During the formal visit of the Chairman of PRC Hu Jintao to the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC NC “KazMunayGas” (KMG NC) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed the Agreement on Scientific-and-Technological and Innovation-Based Cooperation. The Agreement was signed by Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC “KazMunayGas” Kairgeldy Kabyldin and CNPC’s Vice President Wang Dong Jin.

This Agreement is to create the vehicle for open and mutually beneficial cooperation between KMG NC and CNPC in the sphere of innovative technology, science, development of competence and education.

- Kazakhstan’s oil and gas market has already embarked on the course of innovation-based development, and, as part of the State Program for Boosted Industrial-and-innovation-based Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2010-2014 (SPBIID), National Company “KazMunayGas” is already implementing a few important projects in the sphere of oil refining and petrochemistry. The agreement with CNPC signed today is an important measure for construction of KMG’s portfolio of innovations, that will bring a material economic benefit to the country, - Kairgeldy Kabyldin noted.

- I strongly believe that this agreement will become a new stage of cooperation between CNPC and National Company “KazMunayGas”. In its turn, CNPC is willing to share its experience, technologies in hydrocarbon exploration and production, manufacturing of petroleum equipment, and special attention will be given to the matters of training of scientific and engineering personnel, - Wang Dong Jin said.

Under the Agreement, the parties plan on developing joint scientific-and-technological projects, incl. creation and development of the petroleum industry research-and-development center in the “Information Technology Park” FTZ in Almaty.

The parties have further agreed on rendering technical and technological support on the projects for joint production of modern oil and gas equipment based on the machine-manufacturing plants of Kazakhstan, and on appropriate equipment of the KMG group of companies’ research-and-development centers.
