OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2011. Siberia macro-regional branch of Rostelecom OJSC keeps on digitalizing its telecommunication network. Thus, since the beginning of the year the operator has switched over more than 4,200 telephone numbers of analog telephone exchanges in the Omsk Region, Republic of Khakassia and Krasnoyarsk Territory to modern digital ATS. In addition, 259 km of fiber optic lines have been built in Zabaikalsk Territory, Omsk and Novosibirsk Regions; about 16,000 broadband GPON ports have been put into operation.

Work on network reconstruction was performed in all subjects of the Siberian Federal District. As a result of conducted work the capacity of digital ATS reached 4 million telephone numbers, and the level of digitalization of the merged Rostelecom exceeded 84% all over the territory of Siberia.

Change of analog communication lines for digital ones provides not only a huge array of telecommunication services – more than 150 value-added services among which is  automatic calling, call waiting, hotline, call forwarding, queue of incoming calls,  conference communication, alarm clock, virtual number, abbreviated dialing. Apart from traditional telephone communication services broadband Internet access is available.

According to Maxim Kudryavtsev, Vice President and Director of Siberia macro-regional branch of Rostelecom OJSC, analog communication lines are getting obsolescent and they can’t satisfy the growing requirements of users for telecommunication services any longer, including Internet access. ‘Our task is to enable clients to use modern quality telecommunication services’ said Maxim Kudryavtsev.
