The Turkmentel-2011 V International Exhibition of telecommunications, telemetry, information technologies and TV and radio broadcasting equipment the International Conference “Turkmenistan and World Information and Telecommunication Technologies” was opened in the Turkmen capital. The forum is organized by the Ministry of Communications and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The main goal of the large-scale sectoral forum is to showcase the achievements of the rapidly developing industry of information technologies, telecommunications and TV and radio broadcasting equipment and provide a platform for exchanging experiences in using latest world developments in this sphere. The intense interest in the Ashgabat international exhibition shown by the international business community conditioned by the high prestige of the country which actively integrates in the global political and economic space is illustrated by impressive representation of forum participants.

Over 90 participants including the subdivisions of the Ministry of Communication and foreign manufacturers from many countries on the Eurasian continent, including the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Hong Kong, Lithuania and Kazakhstan are represented at the large-scale exposition at the Exhibition Centre.

The ceremony of opening the international exhibition brought together the cabinet ministers, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of Turkmen ministries and departments and diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, foreign businessmen, journalists, numerous guests and citizens to the Turkmen capital.

The Turkmen leader’s welcome address to forum participants was presented during the opening ceremony. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that modern telecommunication systems played a significant role in the social and economic progress.

The Turkmen leader noted that the measures had been taken in the country to apply high technologies in the telecommunications system, lay optic fibre long-haul communication lines, extend the cellular communications system, connect educational institutions in the country to the Internet and supply them with multimedia and interactive equipment.

The anniversary forum has become a vivid illustration of Turkmenistan’s achievements in the information technology and telecommunications sphere and the panorama of new trends and prospects for development of this sector. Advanced developments and innovations are presented in the thematic sections such as information technologies, telecommunications, telemetry and measuring equipment, wireless and broadband communications, professional audio- and video recording equipment, cable products and accessories, operators of services systems, special equipment and logistics.

The subdivisions of the Ministry of Communication including the state telecommunications companies, including Turkmentelekom, Teleradiomerkezi, Turkmenpochta, Altyn Asyr present their expositions at the Exhibition Centre. The expositions of Turkmen postal and telecommunications specialists demonstrate a wide range of services in the spheres of cable and cellular communications, electronic data transmission via telecommunications networks, quality broadcasting of national TV and radio programmes as express post inside the country and abroad. Turkmen entrepreneurs, who successfully operate in the information and computer technologies market, offer a wide range of services. Among them are Advis, Sypayy, Imdat Electronica, Sitcom, Alt, Turkmen-innovaziya, Turkmen Akaba, Ak Sim, Nursecme, Niyet-optics and the others.

The representation of foreign exhibition participants is impressive; the largest satellite and cellular communications operators, Internet providers, distributors and world’s producers. The reports focused on the most promising vectors of cooperation and spotlighted the partners’ willingness to act in mutual interests and in compliance with the state development priorities of Turkmenistan.
