OREANDA-NEWS. October 7, 2011. Row of seminars on the issues of family values in modern society, equal rights for men and women, as well as chanelling the issue through media and youth education will take place in the regions of Kazakhstan.

The workshop organizers are the National Commission for Women, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UN Development Programme in Kazakhstan with the support of the British Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Events will take place in Aktau - October 7, Taraz - October 21, Petropavlovsk - October 28, and Kokshetau - November 4, 2011.

"Improvment of the social status of women, wife, mother, and strengthening the role of the father in the upbringing of children, creation of equal conditions in the family - all this will improve demographic and socio-economic situation in the country" - said Gaukhar Nurakhmetova, chief expert of the Secretariat of the National Commission for Women, Family and Demographic policy under the President.

Representatives of government agencies, academia, media, public organizations and ethno-cultural centers invited to participate in the workshop. The workshop participants will make recommendations to improve the status of the family and the effective implementation of gender policy in Kazakhstan. Media representatives will also discuss the establishment and operation of journalism network to promote gender equality.

Regional workshops on family values and equal opportunities conducted under the UNDP project "Support to the National Commission for the improvement of measures for gender equality in Kazakhstan", one of the pillars is the effective implementation of the Strategy for Gender Equality in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2006-2016.
