OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2011. A working meeting took place today between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.

The parties discussed the progress with the Agreement of Cooperation and addressed further development of the infrastructure supplying gas and electricity to consumers in Moscow.

It was highlighted that Moscow was a large natural gas consumer among the Russian Federation constituents. Gazprom secures reliable supplies to Moscow in the amount of up to 27.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

To further improve the gas supplies reliability, Gazprom is retrofitting the Circular Gas Pipeline of the Moscow Oblast, expanding underground gas storage (UGS) facilities, gas laterals and compressor stations (CS). Thus, the Kasimovskoye UGS – Voskresensk CS gas trunkline commissioned in 2009 raised the reliability of gas supplies to Moscow and its suburbs during the winter period.

Moreover, four new generating units with 1,770 MW in total capacity were put onstream by Mosenergo, the region's major heat and power producer, to supply consumers in Moscow and the Moscow Oblast.

Based on the meeting results, Alexey Miller and Sergey Sobyanin confirmed their intent to sign an Agreement of Cooperation to further the economic and sci-tech cooperation of mutual benefit.
