OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2012. Belarusian railway pays much attention to increase of freight export in the communication East-West through belarusian-polish borderlines. As a result of last year the export of domestic goods in EU has increased in this direction by 18,1% to the level of 2010. The discussion of the transit potential of our countries became one of the main questions in the head meeting of the  Belarusian and Polish railway administrations.

Belarusian railway has developed infrastructure, up-to-date technology overload and transfer of wagons and have considerable reserves for raising cargo volume in the route East-West-East on the border with Poland. Since the customs code of Customs union came into effect the necessity of customs execution of cargoes transported from Belarus to Russian Federation and Kazakhstan is cancelled. While importing of cargoes transit through these countries, customs execution is carried out only one time on the Belarusian area of external border of Customs union. Due to this considerably reduced the number of prepared accompanying documents by freight owners and also speed up execution of goods and transport vehicles on the dispatch station while receipt of goods as well as transfer across interstate border crossing.

During the meeting the parties discussed the perspectives of the further development of border railway infrastructure. Anatoly Sivak and Zbigniew Szafranski agreed to create joint work group and discuss the question of holding international conference with participation of transport-logistic and dispatcher companies in 2012.

Besides the heads of railway administrations considered the perspectives of the high speed movement in the communication Belarus-Poland in the network of II pan-European transport corridor. Belarusian railway has already been conducting project work in organization of  high-speed movement on the area Krasnoye-Minsk-Brest.
