OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2012. Belarus’ Grodno-based Neman tobacco factory increased cigarette output 22.8% on the year in January-May 2012 to 10.6 billion units, a Neman administration representative told reporters.

Production under contracts with British-American Tobacco Trading Company reached 2.26 billion units, up 36.5%.

Production under contracts with Japan Tobacco International amounted to 250 million units, up 41.7%; Tobacco International Enterprises Ltd – 0.05 billion units, down 17.7%.

For the home market the company produced 10.3 billion units, up 20.5%.

Cigarette exports totalled 189.9 million units (up 52.8%) to the tune of USD 1.751 million (up 46.3%)

Neman was founded in 1861 and transformed into a joint-stock company with all shares controlled by the state in December 2007.
