OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2012. Nokia Corporation in cooperation with the Foundation for the development of social initiatives “New Perspectives” is happy to announce the results of the contest for grants, totalling €85,000, to graduates and students of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO.

Contestants from 15 teams submitted 20 projects describing mobile applications for Windows Phone and/or Symbian operating systems.

These applications were studied by members of the jury, featuring representatives of Nokia Corporation, the Moscow School of Management – SKOLKOVO, business community, state authorities, software developers, analysts, and experts.

Main criteria for the selection of the winners included:

•             Social impact (ability to resolve social issues related but not limited to education, health care, energy saving, and public transport);

•             Feasibility for the launch in the near future (not more than one year);

•             Highest possible use of the granted funds to resolve social issues facing our society.

After the final jury meeting on 28 June 2012 and further expert consultations, it was decided that the following projects meet these criteria:

•             The Social button (Dmitry Yurchenko, Irina Linnik, Alexander Musienko, Nguyen Quang). The idea of the project is to provide mobile health care solutions for the optimisation of social services and reduction of patronage costs;

•             The Bardakovka service (Rinat Aysin, Alexander Bogomolov). The idea of the project is to launch a mechanism for addressing day-to-day issues of urban management and helping people resolve these issues.

Considering social importance of the proposed ideas and innovative approaches for their implementation, jury members noted a very high level of advancement in most of the submitted applications. They agreed that the Social button and Bardakovka service projects were fit to resolve important social issues, designed and balanced for maximisation of impact from the granted funds, and well planned for the implementation within the set deadlines.

Organisers of the contest and jury members would like to express sincere thanks to all the contestants for the interest to our initiative, active participation, and high professionalism.
