OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2012.  The Jiuhua Mountain Airport is nearing completion and expected to open later this year, Wu Fei, who takes charge of the project, said in an interview with Xinan Evening on Monday.

"Most of the buildings have been completed while inner decoration and minor facilities are marching towards completion," he said. "The airport is due to open on a trial basis in October before its official operation, as we aim, at the end of this year."

The control tower will be topped out in a coupl of days. Outer walls of the terminal building, against which five Chinese characters representing the name of the airport standing out well, have been fit up. "Inside furnishing is now under way," Huang Yonggui, engineering director of the project said, adding that roughly 40 percent of it was finished.

Workers were engaged in building a parking lot before the terminal. "Work on the zone for taxis is complete while the rest is due for completion in a couple of days," Huang said.

The under-construction parking apron, which covers an area of 30,000 square meters, holds five aircrafts.

Also, oil depots are nearing completion. The director said water and power supply facilities are being built. "Greening and construction on the outer square are going to kick off soon."
