OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2012. Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ, based in Zhlobin, Gomel Region) plans to commission a new pipe finishing facility by late 2012, BMZ press officer Alexander Olesik told.

The new facility is intended to produce up to 100,000 tonnes of durable pipes for oil and gas industries (API 5L and API 5CT standards).

By now BMZ has agreed to supply oil-and-gas pipes to customers in the United States (2,200 tonnes) and Russia (2,276 tonnes).

With its new pipe product, BMZ plans to expand on steel markets of the CIS, North America and South America.

BMZ plans to increase steel production up to 3 million tonnes to compare with 2.6 million tonnes of steel produced in 2011.

BMZ produced 1.34 million tonnes of steel in the first half of 2012, up 1.9% on the year.

3 million tonnes of steel will be the culmination of the EUR550 million investment programme, which spans a period till 2015.

OJSC Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.

OJSC Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was proclaimed a management company of Belarus Metal Holding Company, which comprises 14 enterprises, including OJSC Minsk Bearings Plant, Slootsk Enamel Tableware Plant and others.
