OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2012. MegaFon demonstrated cutting edge mobile technologies to the participants of the World Press Briefing in Sochi. The purpose of the Briefing was to present the concept of the Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Sochi, as well as to acquaint media representatives with the range of services to be available to the press at the Olympic Games in Sochi.

As a part of the Briefing that was held from the 5th to the 9th of November, the General Partner of the Olympic Games 2014, MegaFon, demonstrated to Russian and foreign media representatives the 3G/4G mobile internet facilities in the Mountain Cluster of Olympic Sochi. Specifically for the World Press Briefing and test competitions the company launched several new 4G sites at the ski resort Krasnaya Polyana with the purpose to expand network coverage in highland areas. Even now, in the areas covered by the 4G network, the average mobile Internet access rate is 15 to 20 Mbit/s.

Over 300 participants from 30 countries, including reporters of major international and Russian news agencies, print media and representatives of TV channels came to participate in the Briefing. It is expected that 2800 representatives of mass media will be accredited at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
