OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2012. Reliance Infrastructure Ltd's Mumbai Power Distribution has won the prestigious “India Power Awards 2012” for Energy Efficiency Conservation and Demand Side Management (EEC & DSM).

The Company effectively implemented EEC and DSM Programme among power consumers through various platforms - Newsletter, Energy Bill, Energy Manager etc., as well as encouraged them to purchase Star rated energy efficient gadgets at discounted rates thereby sensitizing and educating them on energy conservation.

Commenting on this development, RInfra Spokesperson said, “We are happy to win this prestigious India Power Award for our Mumbai Discom that once again reiterates our commitment towards energy conservation. To meet the growing demand of energy, we have adopted effective measures in improving our processes, standardized policies, invested in break-through technologies and developed products and services that minimize negative consequences in the environment and promote energy conservation.”

This prestigious award was conferred to RInfra by a panel of eminent Jury members consisting of Mr. P. Abraham, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power; Mr. H. L. Bajaj, Former Member (Technical), Appellate Tribunal for Electricity; Dr. C. R. Prasad, Former CMD-GAIL, Chairman-Everest Power Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. H. R. Sharma, Former Member (CEA) & Director, GVK Technical & Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. V. Raghuraman, Former Principal Adviser (Energy), Confederation of Indian Industry and Mr. C. V. J. Varma, Honorary President ICOLD & President CPU - Member Secretary.

Since 2008, the Council of Power Utilities confers the prestigious ‘India Power Award' every year to create synergy among power utilities.

In the past, RInfra's Dahanu Thermal Power Station had won the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) award for Excellence in Energy Conservation and Management in Thermal Power Station, consecutively for three years i.e., 2005, 2006 and 2008. This is the 4th energy conservation award that the Company has won for the Mumbai distribution business.
