OREANDA-NEWS. Igor Shchurov, Director of DTEK Oil&Gas, takes up the position of the Director General of Naftogazvydobuvannia. The decision was approved on 17 April by the General Meeting of Shareholders of Naftogazvydobuvannia.

 Igor Shchurov will be responsible for the development and implementation of Naftogazvydobuvannia new investment programme, sustainable production growth, and introduction of the latest standards of transparent corporate governance approved by DTEK.  

 “Development of the oil and gas sector is extremely important for Ukraine’s energy security and stable growth,” said DTEK’s CEO Maxim Timchenko. “Professional management is an integral part of success in this sector. Igor Shchurov has extensive experience with large oil and gas projects. We believe that his appointment will make Ukraine’s largest private gas producer more efficient. The team of experts remaining in DTEK Oil&Gas is able to accomplish the projects already launched.”

 “While working for DTEK Oil&Gas, I managed to build a team of professionals who have taken part in the largest international exploration projects in Ukraine and CIS countries, to design the development strategy for DTEK’s oil and gas business, and to launch several critical research and analytical projects,” said Igor Shchurov. “I am sure that the DTEK Oil&Gas team will successfully carry out the projects that are in the company’s portfolio. The shareholders of Naftogazvydobuvannia have set a new task for me: to develop and implement an investment strategy. This is a challenge, but I am happy to use my knowledge and experience to fulfil this task.”

 DTEK has reached agreement with the current shareholders of Naftogazvydobuvannia to buy their stake, and SCM decided to assign its 25% of shares in Naftogazvydobuvannia to DTEK. After obtaining permit from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, DTEK and the shareholders of Naftogazvydobuvannia will close the deal, and DTEK will acquire the controlling stake.

 As reported earlier, Igor Shchurov was appointed as DTEK Oil&Gas Director in September 2011. Earlier Shchurov served as the General Director of the oil and gas producing company Novatek-Tarkosaleneftegaz. In 1998, Shchurov graduated from Samara State Technical University with a diploma in ‘Exploration and Exploitation of Oil and Gas Fields’; in 2000, he obtained a diploma in ‘Finance and Credit’ from Samara State Academy of Economics. Shchurov has a PhD in Technical Sciences. In 2005, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences awarded him with the academic degree of Professor.
