OREANDA-NEWS. Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, a Siberian company specializing in the development and manufacture of communications, navigation and geodesy spacecraft, celebrates 54 years in business.

Having evolved from a branch of Korolev’s design bureau OKB-1 which was established in Zheleznogorsk in 1959 to provide design support for ballistic missile production, ISS-Reshetnev has become one of the leaders in the field of unmanned space science. Today the company secures its position as a prime contractor under a number of state-run programs as well as a variety of commercial projects in the interest of both national and foreign customers.

In the 1960s the Siberian company began designing communications, navigation and geodesy spacecraft, thus entering the satellite manufacturing business. And it defined the company’s further specialization. As of today, ISS-Reshetnev has built over 1200 spacecraft ensuring national security and facilitating development of various industries and social life. ISS-Reshetnev-produced satellites make up 2/3 of the national satellite fleet.

Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems has gained a great reputation in the global market having become the first Russian space company to enter the international arena. ISS-Reshetnev has a good track record of orders, including the telecommunications spacecraft Sesat for the international operator Eutelsat, satellites in the interest of Israel, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Being a dynamic and fast-growing company, ISS-Reshetnev conducts continuous research into leading-edge technologies, purchases dozens of high-performance machines and other equipment annually, and builds new production facilities. It enables the company to maintain high rates of production and simultaneously work on more than 50 spacecraft projects.
