OREANDA-NEWS. The representatives of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport participated in the 2nd International Conference Synergies Between Airports and Air Carriers: Realities and Prospects hosted at Issyk-Kul lake in Korumdy, Kyrgyzstan.

The conference was organized by Kyrgyzstan Airlines OJSC with the support and participation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Property Management Fund under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Passenger traffic on the routes connecting the cities of Kyrgyzstan with Novosibirsk is steadily growing: following the results of August 2013, the passenger traffic on Novosibirsk - Bishkek route increased by 41%, on Novosibirsk - Osh route the growth made up 15% compared to the same period last year. The development of air traffic with the Central Asian republic remains among the airport’s top priorities. Flights from Novosibirsk to the cities of Kyrgyzstan are currently operated by four airlines, three of which are the Kyrgyz carriers (Kyrgyzstan, Air Bishkek and Avia Traffic Company)and the airport’s base airline company S7 Airlines.

Within the framework of the conference Synergies Between Airports and Air Carriers: Realities and Prospects, the Commercial Director of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport Gregory POMERANTSEV presented his report “The Siberian Hub for Eurasia”,wherein he highlighted broad options for transfers at Novosibirsk airport for the passengers arriving from Central Asia. At present, over 15% passengers arriving from Kyrgyzstan to Novosibirsk are transfer ones. Furthermore, such cities as Bishkek and Osh occupy the leading positions regarding passenger traffic volume to Novosibirsk compared to other destinations in the CIS.

Furthermore, the delegation of Airport Tolmachevo JSC conducted negotiations with Kyrgyzstan airlines, Air Bishkek and Avia Traffic Company on the issue of flight frequency enhancement on the existing routes as well as considered the opportunity to cooperate with Sky Biskek airline company. The management officials also discussed how to stimulate growth of transfer passenger traffic from Kyrgyzstan to Siberia and Far East via Novosibirsk and, whether possible, to use Bishkek as a transit point on Novosibirsk - Delhi route.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic airline capacity makes up 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights - 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways. In 2013 it expects to serve over 3.7 million passengers and handle over 35 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
