OREANDA-NEWS. A new hydraulic breaker fitted to a Hitachi excavator has come into operation at Mikhailovsky GOK's open-pit mine. The hydraulic breaker will be used to break up oversized pieces of ore. The new machinery was delivered to Mikhailovsky GOK as part of Metalloinvest's programme to develop mining and transport operations.

Metalloinvest constantly expands its machinery fleet at its mining and processing enterprises. The Company is acquiring heavy-duty dump trucks, locomotives, excavators and other machinery for Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK. In 2014 alone, 11 heavy-duty dump trucks with a load capacity of more than 130 tonnes, 10 excavators, three boring machines, 10 locomotives, and 100 dumpcars were delivered to the plants.

The assembly of a new Uralmash excavator with an 18 cubic metre bucket has now been completed at Mikhailovsky GOK. Upon the completion of testing and commissioning works, it will operate in the central open-pit mine. The new NP-1 locomotive has been delivered to Mikhailovsky GOK's railway operations management. Upon the completion of testing and commissioning works, it will also be used to meet production targets.
