OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg plant General Motors is considering the launching of SKD assembly of new models in 2015, the CEO of company, Romuald Rytvinskaya, said.

"We have a small volume of SKD-production, it is Chevrolet TrailBlazer. We consider the possibility of assembly launching of new models in this manner," - "TASS" agency quoted Mr.Rytvinski. According to him, the bulk of production at the plant is still made by Opel Astra, Chevrolet Cruz. "We have the ability to produce up to 7 thousand cars in SKD mode," - said Mr.Rytvinski.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg plant General Motors switches to single-shift schedule. "Currently, we are optimizing the production to meet the needs of the market. The main goal is to work (of enterprise) every day, by starting from the next month. We will work in one shift, focusing on the market", - said Mr.Rytvinski.

Earlier, the press secretary of the company, Victoria Tchouikina, informed "TASS" that the company will offer employees the compensation packages by program of termination of employment by mutual agreement on October 1st. It is about the payment of the six salaries, clarified the spokeswoman of agency, by adding that "the standard procedure of dismissal of employees is less favorable for them than the compensation packages that will be offered." The period, to which the program of termination of employment will be completed, is not disclosed by the company. Presumably, it is October 6th, 2014, when the St. Petersburg Company will move to single-shift operation.

GM plant in St. Petersburg is working since 2008, investment in construction were more than 300 million dollars. Today, the design capacity of the plant is 98,000 cars per a year, in 2015 it was planned to increase the production to 230,000 cars. The company produces by a full-cycle model Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra, and it assembles SUV Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
