OREANDA-NEWS. Transport Canada Aviation Security reported Ukraine International to have successfully passed the assessment of the security measures and received a Canadian Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC) permitting scheduled passenger services from Ukraine to Canada.

As part of its long-haul program, Ukraine International plans to launch non-stop transatlantic service en route Kiev - Toronto - Kiev within the Summer 2015 Schedule. To receive a flight permit a carrier is obliged to apply for a Canadian FAOC and to undergo the security measures' assessment. During the On-Site Security Visit - December 8 - 12, 2014, - the representatives of Transport Canada Safety and Security have assessed the UIA security measures. The assessment was carried out to verify Ukraine International complied with ICAO standards and recommended practices, as well as Canadian regulatory requirements.

Given the current situation in Ukraine, the assessment process covered the entire aviation security system, as well as individual procedure checks. The assessment found Ukraine International has an approved security program that is consistent with ICAO standards and recommended practices and meets Canadian aviation security requirements. Moreover, the assessors highly appreciated professionalism and skill of UIA staff involved in maintaining safety and security of passengers, cargo, and aircraft.

Along with assessments previously conducted by TSA USA, Israel Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, and the EU (ACC3 validation), the results of Transport Canada Aviation Security assessment prove UIA aviation security measures comply with the highest international standards and the airline is ready to operate flights to Canada.

"Flight safety has always been the number 1 priority for UIA, - noted Alexander Suvorov, UIA Aviation Security Director. - We are proud of having unconditionally passed the Transport Canada Aviation Security assessment. Currently, UIA professionals conduct prefeasibility studies of operating flights to Toronto in summer 2015, while preparatory works on launching non-stop scheduled services to Canada are almost completed".
