In the Russian market of pickups there is the moment when the two cars will share with each other the demand - the new generation of Mitsubishi L200 and the new generation of Toyota Hilux. So says Ilya Nikonorov - Director of Marketing and Public Relations of "MMC Rus", by predicting for these two models a serious struggle for customers, market share and sales.

"All the other models that were presented in the Russian market, are gone or on the way to it. Nissan, Great Wall, Ford, Mazda do not sell pickups today”, - says Mr. Nikonorov. - In the segment, in fact, there are only three vehicles. They are L200, Amarok and Hilux ... In Russia, pickup – is a niche segment of the market. But it is segment, which is stable. And it evolves with the market. The market is growing - and this segment is growing. Market falls - it falls. Sharp distortions as in the case of minivans do not occur. Share of pickups is in the range of 2-3% of total sales of SUV segment in Russia ... "

At the end of eight months sales of 2015 of Mitsubishi are in the first place in the segment of pickups with a share of this market of about 48%. As a result, the company expects (based on the launch in August of an updated version L200) to keep it in the range of 45-50%.

Recall that the updated version of the L200 received a new diesel engine, by becoming more powerful and dynamic, but at the same time, it increased efficiency and reduced noise. In all configurations of L 200 there are appeared systems ABS and Stability. The top versions have LED running lights and 2-DIN radio with USB-port now. It is all was designed to help to maintain the interest of the consumers, even in a crisis.

The traditional structure of the demand for pick-ups in the company Mitsubishi is the following: 25% are corporate sales (oil, gas, transport, telecommunications companies, who have to work in confined spaces), 75% - sales to individuals. The last mentioned, as "MMC Rus" noted, buy pick-ups to work (small businesses), as well as for hobbies: hunters, fishermen, people who travel a lot. This is often a second or even third car in the family. There are clients for whom the pickup with its relatively low cost - has become a full-fledged replacement for the off-roader.

According to the agency "AUTOSTAT", for the first seven months of 2015 the share of pickups was 0.7% of market of new cars in Russia, in terms of quantity - 6.3 thousand units. Leaders - are Mitsubishi L200 (2,1 thous. units), UAZ 23632 Pickup (1,6 thous. units), Toyota Hilux (1,4 thous. units) among the models on the market - Volkswagen Amarok, Nissan Pickup, Great Wall Wingle, Nissan Navara, Dodge Ram, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tundra.
