OREANDA-NEWS Prices for polyethylene and polypropylene in Russia accelerated growth at the beginning of the second quarter of 2023. Kommersant writes about this.

According to the publication, by mid-April, the cost of some types of base polymers has increased by 10-15 percent since the beginning of the year. "The reason was also the decision of manufacturers to significantly increase prices from April 1," Plastinfo said.

It is noted that HDPE pipe grades have risen the most against the background of a shortage — by 10 rubles per 1 kilogram (up to about 130 thousand rubles per ton). In addition, the cost of linear low—density polyethylene has increased - by 2.3 percent on average.

Last year, prices for plastic products and polymer building materials in March in Russia increased by 10 percent, and in some segments up to 50 percent.
