OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government may ban the sale of substances aimed at increasing the attractiveness of nicotine-containing liquids, including food flavors, a copy of the relevant draft government decree is available to RIA Novosti.

"The Government of the Russian Federation ... decides: 1. Approve the attached list of substances aimed at increasing the attractiveness of nicotine-containing liquid, nicotine-free liquid and nicotine solutions (including liquids for electronic nicotine delivery vehicles)," the document says.

Also, food additives, vegetable flavoring additives and their derivatives, including vanillin, cocoa and its derivatives, licorice, spices, any natural and synthetic sugars, synthetic or natural sweeteners can be attributed to substances aimed at increasing the attractiveness of nicotine-containing liquids, the sale of which is proposed to be banned. In addition, it is proposed to include additives that enhance nicotine dependence, including synthetic nicotine, ethyl alcohol, ammonium, ammonia.

As the State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzayev noted, now the Ministry of Health is discussing those substances that will be banned as additives in vapes. He stressed that he stands for the most complete and expanded classification of these substances.

"We understand that the vape industry is already looking for new names (as in hookah bars, when hookahs turned out to be steam cocktails), but our task is to learn from our experience! And this will definitely be taken into account," he told RIA Novosti.

The deputy added that at the profile meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation urged not to deviate from protecting the health of citizens. "Supervisors and supervisors must impartially perform their function of identifying and suppressing violations of the law," he said.
