OREANDA-NEWS  The United States is allocating $6 billion to support Ukraine's security, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said at a briefing.

"These funds will be used for interceptor missiles for Ukrainian Patriot complexes, for drones and support systems, a significant part of the funds will go to ammunition for artillery, air-to-surface missiles, as well as for maintenance," he said.

Earlier, Politico reported that it is likely that these weapons will not reach Ukraine in the next few years required for their production.

On April 24, U.S. President Joe Biden signed a package of bills approved by Congress on additional financial assistance to Ukraine, Israel and allies in the Indo-Pacific region.

The law on assistance to Ukraine provides for the allocation of approximately $61 billion to Kiev. Of these, more than $20 billion is planned to be spent on replenishing the US arsenals, from which weapons have already been supplied to Kiev. Another part of the money will be spent on financing the activities of the US military near Ukraine. About $14 billion will be used to ensure that Ukraine buys its own weapons.
