OREANDA-NEWS  A participant of the Ukrainian national bank and the food blockade of the peninsula was detained and taken into custody in Crimea, the press service of the Crimean department of the FSB of the Russian Federation reports.

"The man was detained by employees of the border department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea. A preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months has been chosen against him," the report says.

A criminal case has been opened against a 54-year-old Crimean citizen for participating in an illegal armed formation. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

The investigation established that the Crimean citizen in 2017 voluntarily joined the Crimean Tatar volunteer National Battalion created in Ukraine. Nomana Celebijihana (banned in the Russian Federation).

"The suspect was involved in the armed protection of the battalion's permanent deployment point, took a direct part in the so-called "food blockade" of Crimea, and also, together with Ukrainian border guards, carried out an inspection of persons and vehicles crossing the state border of the Russian Federation," the report says.
