An Indian company selects a site for a pharmaceutical plant in the Murmansk region

OREANDA-NEWS The authorities of the Murmansk region intend to provide comprehensive support to the project of an Indian investor for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex and a plant of active pharmaceutical ingredients, a plot of land is already being selected for the project, the Ministry of Information Policy of the region reported.
On Tuesday, Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with the Indian investor – CEO of SAFFARM LLC Divesh Kumar, dedicated to the construction of a pharmaceutical complex in Murmansk. In June, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Government of the Murmansk Region, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation and SAFFARM signed a cooperation agreement that provides for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex and a factory of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
"The Government of the Murmansk Region once again confirms its interest in the development of biotechnologies in our region… Your proposed investment project and everything related to it, including the active involvement of our science, seems very promising to us, and we will provide comprehensive assistance to its implementation," Chibis said, whose words are quoted in the message.
He recalled that during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, the topic of technology development, including scientific research with the participation of Murmansk Arctic University, was also discussed. The CEO of SAFFARM LLC thanked the head of the region for the support and stressed the importance of the project for the Indian side.
"We are ready to move into the practical plane – at the moment, in cooperation with the relevant departments of the government of the Murmansk region, we are looking for the most convenient land plot for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex that would meet not only business, but also environmental requirements," Kumar said.
In August, SAFFARM LLC received the status of a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. In 2024-2027, construction of a pharmaceutical complex consisting of three blocks with a total area of more than 14 thousand square meters is planned in Murmansk. It is assumed that the creation of a modern high-tech pharmaceutical production will satisfy the domestic demand for antibiotics, vaccines, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, including hormonal and oncological preparations.
