OREANDA-NEWS  Reception points for New Year's trees have opened in the capital, the website of the mayor and the government of Moscow reported on Tuesday.

"600 reception points for New Year's trees have been opened in the capital. As part of the "Christmas Tree Cycle" campaign, it is possible to recycle spruce, pine and fir trees that have expired after the New Year holidays," the message says.

It is noted that "New Year's trees will be processed into chips and used as fertilizer and compost for the soil."

"And the material will also serve for filling paths in natural areas and as bedding for animals in aviary complexes," the message says.

Trees, as well as coniferous branches, are accepted for disposal free of charge. A prerequisite is the absence of tinsel, garlands, decorations and packaging materials on them, according to the website.

Reception points will be open until February 25.
