OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

"Today he already had an international telephone conversation. We are preparing a message... It was an international telephone conversation with Narendra Modi," the Kremlin spokesman said, noting that Putin has no plans to talk with French President Emmanuel Macron yet.

Earlier, the Indian authorities commented on the refusal of the Indian leader to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is noted that Modi made the appropriate decision after Putin allegedly threatened to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko called the reports about the refusal of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia a misunderstanding. "I think there is some misunderstanding here. As [Russian presidential press secretary] Dmitry Peskov said, the Prime Minister's visit was not planned this year," he said.
