OREANDA-NEWS  Bulgarian Ambassador Atanas Krystin was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday. As informed on Smolenskaya Square, the diplomat was protested in connection with the expulsion from Bulgaria of the rector and two servants of the Russian Orthodox Church's compound in Sofia.

As the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, this was done "under a far-fetched pretext" and "in a blasphemous and insulting manner."

Recall that the official Sofia decided to expel the servants of the Russian Orthodox Church last week, allegedly because of the threat they pose to national security.

As the Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova previously drew attention to, relations between the two countries have been at a low point since the early 1990s.
