OREANDA-NEWS Since January of this year, over 117,400 people have been accepted into the Armed Forces for a contract and into volunteer formations, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting on recruitment for military service under a contract.

"We are continuing our work with you on staffing the Russian Armed Forces with contractors within the framework of the President's instructions on this topic. Today we will discuss the situation that develops with the selection of citizens for military service under contract in the federal districts and the relevant subjects of Russia in May of this year," he said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council noted that the participants of this meeting also worked on measures to replenish the army.

"Accordingly, out of this figure (117,400 contractors and volunteers. — Editor's note) and we will proceed in the course of our further work," Medvedev stressed.

In turn, sources in the Security Council, commenting on the last meeting, noted that recruitment under the contract is proceeding at a very good pace.
