OREANDA-NEWS. The Ukrainian government intends to introduce severe restrictions from January 8, 2021 to combat coronavirus, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said. Mass events, visiting cafes and restaurants, schools, universities, non-food stores, cinemas, theaters and shopping and entertainment centers will be prohibited.

“From January 8 to January 24… quarantine restrictions will be strengthened in Ukraine. Let’s call them winter holidays for the sake of safety,” Shmygal said at a government meeting.

Catering establishments will be allowed to work on delivery and takeaway. Kindergartens, hospitals, grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, post offices, hotels, gasoline stations will continue to operate.

In Ukraine, 845 thousand coronavirus infections have been registered. Over the past day, 12.6 thousand cases have been identified. For all the time of the pandemic, 14.2 thousand people died.
