OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 March 2009 was announced, that almost 20 dwelling houses located within central Moscow are liable to demolition or reconstruction in 2009, Olga Veldina, press officer of the local prefecture, told journalists.

“In total, the address list contains 19 houses, including 3 dilapidated buildings,” the official specified.

The total area of housing to be taken down or overhauled exceeds 60,000 square metres. Most of these houses are located on Rogozhsky Val, Nizhegorodskaya and Bolshaya Serpukhovskaya streets.

According to Moscow’s Tender Committee, more than 40 auctions were held at the unified trading floor of Moscow’s Competition Policy Department in late February within which the contractors for almost all of houses to undergo an overhaul in 2009 were selected.

Pyotr Biryukov, first deputy mayor of Moscow and head of Moscow’s municipal services, said the overhaul of approximately 600 residential buildings throughout the city scheduled for 2009 would be completed in time, despite the global financial crisis.
