OREANDA-NEWS. In the first quarter of 2017, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport’s passenger traffic amounted to 2 899 040 people, a number 25.3% higher than in the same period of 2016.

Domestic traffic grew by 22.6% to 2 054 446 passengers. International traffic increased by 32.2% and amounted to 844 594 passengers.

Pulkovo airport handled 30 861 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 18% YOY. The maximum take-off weight handled amounted to 1 024 842 tons, a figure 20.3% higher than in the same period of 2016.

In March 2017, 1 018 974 passengers used Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, a number 23.1% higher than in the same period of 2016.

Domestic traffic increased by 19.8% compared to March 2016, to 714 775 passengers. International traffic grew by 31.7% in March 2017 YOY, and amounted to 304 199 passengers.

In March of 2017, Pulkovo airport handled 10 887 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 21.3% to the level of March 2016. The maximum take-off weight handled amounted to 357 728 tons, a figure 22.3% higher than in the same period of 2016.

In Q1 2017, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, Ural Airlines, UTair and S7 were the largest Russian carriers in terms of traffic volume at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services 1 959 024 passengers at St. Petersburg airport, or 67.6% of the total traffic in this period.

Among foreign airlines, Lufthansa, Belavia, Uzbekistan Airways, Emirates and KLM became the leaders at St. Petersburg airport in Q1 2017. In total, they handled 236 366 passengers at Pulkovo during the 3-month period, or 8.2% of the total airport traffic.

In March 2017, the Pulkovo airport switched to the summer schedule. In the summer season, new scheduled flights will be launched from Pulkovo to Catania in Italy, Kavala in Greece, Bergen in Norway, Tallinn in Estonia, etc.
